How does a game-changing equipment rental innovator change their industry?

They set out to disrupt the market…

Brothers Jabbok and Willy Schlacks started out as construction contractors, and over time realized there was a disconnect between supply and demand in the heavy equipment rental market. Entrepreneurs at heart, they knew they could offer a better solution and set out to disrupt the existing market. The pair founded EquipmentShare in 2014, building a cutting-edge telematics platform and establishing several physical rental locations.

They deploy the hardware expertise of Morey…

EquipmentShare had been buying a small amount of MC3s from Morey while breaking into the telematics space. Ryne DeBoer met Willy in 2016, and after listening to him, he could tell the Schlacks brothers knew something other people didn’t. Finding out where EquipmentShare was going and what they required to effectively monitor their rentals in the field led to the Morey team completely changing the architecture and feature set of the MC4, which was in development at the time.

They overcome issues through collaboration…

When Morey’s team had software issues with the new MC4+ device, EquipmentShare was able to leverage a talented internal team to assist. They negotiated a licensing agreement where Morey handed over all of the code so EquipmentShare could build on top of it and develop their own custom applications. As a result, Morey and EquipmentShare are now negotiating a five-year contract with purchase orders against their entire portfolio, including products they buy from other companies.
