Maximizing Your Battery-Powered Tracker's Value Per Ping
POV: Marc Boersma, Director of Product
Every single report that a battery-powered GPS tracker sends out is obviously a hit on battery-life. We like to think of battery-powered trackers not as, oh, it's gonna last five years or 10 years. We look at them as, let's maximize the value per ping that you can get out of this tracker.
So, while the Slap-N-Track is rated to last for 10 years, the true capability is upwards of 15,000 pings, and you can use those 15,000 pings however you want. You can have it report 10 times a day or you can have it report once a day.
The thing that I take pride in is we've made this extremely configurable for the customer's use case. They can also pair it with our motion reporting setting, which is independent from periodic. So you can schedule the device to report when in motion, when motion starts, when motion stops, and, how often you want it reporting when it senses motion.
If you're getting false positives with your motion reporting because it's in the asset is in a super high traffic environment or the wind is blowing like crazy and it's shaking the asset, you can dial in the sensitivity of the accelerometer so the motion reports you're getting are true motion reports instead of false positives, which is, I just think that's really, really cool.
So, between the periodic reporting, the motion reporting, and then stolen asset mode, all those three things work together for customers to optimize and tweak how they want this device to report and maximize their value per ping.
